Lancashire's sons of occult darkness push off into the night with the first in a triptych of spellbinding vinyl-only LP's. Forest Of Evil' is a direct elevation and expansion of the ideas expressed o.

Tryptych ‎(3xCD, Comp, RP).

Whether it's a really long single or a short album is no matter: Forest of Evil is a landmark release for the Manchester duo of Miles Whittaker and Sean Canty. Conjured from a cauldron of swirling genres and witchery, the two long tracks that make up Forest produce a genuine transcendence of sound and atmosphere. The unique range of influences include, of course, dub techno, but also the strong presence of dubstep and drone. The combination works because the duo not only maintain an exquisite balance between the competing forces, but also harness the potential of each to direct it into what feels like a genuine attempt at hexenkraft.

Forest Of Evil' is a direct elevation and expansion of the ideas expressed on the debut album, 'Symbiosis', literally breaking down multiple elements to run as two extended pices - one on each side, giving more scope to suck us into an abyssal vortex of inky blackness without interruption. The sides are themed as 'Dusk' and 'Dawn', entry and exit points for a trip where owt can happen in between

Overview (current section).

Forest of Evil (2010). Album by Demdike Stare. Forest of Evil (Dawn). Straight Up and Down by Chick Corea (1968).

Demdike Stare’s debut album ‘Symbiosis’ was released in late 2009 and explored Sean Canty and Miles Whittaker’s interest in re-appropriated found sounds of all colours and origins. Fast adopted into the ‘Hauntological’ canon, the album evoked the noises and spirits of distant yet oddly familiar locations. The first of a vinyl trilogy set to be released through 2010, Forest Of Evil’ is a more unearthly affair, split into two long tracks that summon the presence of the pair’s geographical, musical and spiritual ancestors.

Demdike Stare release first album in five years, Wonderland. View All. Wonderland.

What is the sound quality of this pressing? I heard the SQ of the 2014 repress of Liberation Through Hearing wasn't good, wondering if this has the same issues.
