By the time the Coral Snakes formed in late 1987, Graney's influences had changed dramatically to the American '60s psychedelia of the Charlatans and the Quicksilver Messenger Service. In 1988, Dave Graney & the Coral Snakes released their debut EP At His Stone Beach in the . Supporting this proved difficult, as the band was forced to return to Australia voluntarily or face deportation. Upon his return to Australia, Graney formed the White Buffaloes. The results of this tour were released as a live album, The Lure of the Tropics. 1993 saw Graney once again change his focus. After performing a number of semi-acoustic shows, the band began to take on more lounge music influences, culminating in the release of The Night of the Wolverine. This album featured Graney's biggest commercial success at the time, the single "You're Just Too Hip, Baby.

Eventually this recording was released in 1992 as Lure Of the Tropics. At almost the same time the album that we had done in London for FIRE came out. It was called I Was The Hunter And I Was The Prey. In December 1992 we recorded Night Of The Wolverine which came out in early 1993 so we had three albums come out in a very short time. This digital album is mainly the mix by Phil McKellar which is how it was first released. In 1996 it was remixed by Tony Cohen and several more songs were included. These are included here as the last three tracks. Dave Graney and Clare Moore were once in the Moodists, singer and drummer respectively. Then there was the Coral Snakes and the Dave Graney Show and the Lurid Yellow Mist and now the mistLY. Stu Thomas on bass since 2004 and Stuart Perera on guitar since 1998.
