STREET EATERS are a truewave/punk band from Berkeley+Oakland, CA that has drawn a range of sonic comparisons to bands from Wipers to Masshysteri, Autoclave to Mission of Burma, Huggy Bear to KARP, Sonic Youth’s 'Bad Moon Rising' to the early recordings of Warsaw. True to form, the band sought to come to terms with this changed landscape by diving deeply into their own recording studio to create a new record with an expansive new vision with "The Envoy". Directly inspired by Le Guin’s radical speculative fiction and analytical lens on the world around us and beyond it, Street Eaters tackle transformative and transgressive lyrical themes of oppression, resistance, and change explored in the books. On The Envoy, the followup to 2014’s Blood::Muscles::Bones, conjure entire worlds.

This special release is a companion piece to our 2017 album "The Envoy", based on the speculative fiction writer Ursula K LeGuin's books "The Dispossessed" and "Left Hand of Darkness" ew expanded versions of tracks from that album plus several unreleased tracks.

The Lotus Eaters are an English new wave band formed in 1982 in Liverpool. Their debut single, "The First Picture of You", became a hit in the UK and in continental Europe, notably France, Italy, Belgium and Spain. In September 1982, Peter Coyle and Jeremy "Jem" Kelly met for the first time. Kelly had been guitarist in the Dance Party with Michael Head and co-founded the Wild Swans in 1980. Coyle had previously been in the Jass Babies, who had recorded a session for John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show in 1981.

Street Eaters display some dazzling simpatico synergy, and their sound is beautifully dialed in. A glorious fuzz bass racket, considered shouty dual vocals and pounding drums, all delivered with drive and precision. Megan March (vocals and drums) and John No (vocals and bass) have just released their 3 full length, The Envoy, and recently wrapped up a coast to coast US tour. Street Eaters are about to head out on a European tour. Go say hi. They won’t disappoint.
