Track off of Elliott Smith’s 1997 album Either/Or. Alameda could be a reference to the neighborhood Alameda in Portland, the city in which Elliott spent most of his adolescence. However, Elliott could also be referring to the city Alameda in California. It is unclear whether the song is referencing the Alameda of Portland or California, but due to the album mostly being recorded in Portland, one could argue that the song is a reference to Smith’s hometown.
