Overall, "The Whole Scenario" is a good album, but was hindered by bad timing. For starters, the album was released around the same time as Gerald Levert's supergroup project LSG with Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill. Also, the album came out when the focus on R&B shifted from contemporary to neo-soul. One person found this helpful.

The Whole Scenario finds Levert bouncing back to action, recovering the ground they lost in the early '90s. Although the album has some clear contemporary hip-hop influences, it works because Levert hasn't lost sight of their primary strengths as a soulful vocal group. Throughout The Whole Scenario, the group works dance numbers and ballads with equal aplomb, and while the material is occasionally subpar, their performances never are. Track Listing.
