Sand is a music studio album recording by ALLAN HOLDSWORTH (Jazz ive Rock) released in 1987 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. Like the previous album, Sand too is dominated by Holdsworth himself on guitar and SynthAxe (an instrument that is a mix between a guitar and a synthesiser) but unlike previous albums, Sand is entirely instrumental. It is thus a little bit less varied, but at the same time more coherent than the last album and also compared to the album that came after it, Secrets.

Allan Holdsworth (born August 6, 1946; Bradford, West Yorkshire, England - died April 16, 2017; Vista, California, USA) was an English guitarist and composer best known for his work in jazz fusion. After recording with a number of bands throughout the 1970's, his first solo album was released - against his will - as 1976's "Velvet Darkness. " the first solo album over which he had full artistic control, was released in 1982
