Songs I Wish I Had Sung the First Time Around was Bing Crosby's fifth Decca long play album, recorded and originally released in 1956. This was a concept album of sorts. Bing covered some of his musical rivals' biggest hits, such as Al Jolson's "April Showers" and Nat King Cole's "Mona Lisa". New Tricks was a set of sides Crosby cut with the Buddy Cole Quartet (Cole was Crosby’s pianist for a number of years) for use on radio and were released on Decca in 1957.

Recorded at the same time as his career retrospective A Musical Autobiography, this functions as the flip side of that release, including very few songs he was associated with, but allowing him to use the lessons he'd learned over 30 years of professional performance. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the version sung by Bing Crosby is the best-selling single of all time, with estimated sales in excess of 50 million copies worldwide. The original version was No. 1 on the US charts for 11 weeks on it's original release.
