Description

BY REQUEST! The title track from the incredlble multi-talented Asia frontman John Wetton's absolutely fantastic solo album "Battle Lines" (Highly Recommend!)

Voice Mail is the second solo album by the English rock musician John Wetton. Initially released on 17 June 1994 in Japan only, it was re-released internationally as Battle Lines with the same musical content but different artwork. John Wetton – all vocals, bass, acoustic guitar and keyboards. Michael Landau – guitars. Michael Cartellone – drums. Claude Gaudette – keyboards and programming. Robert Fripp – guitar. Simon Phillips – drums.

John Wetton - Battle Lines (1994).

Basically indistinguishable from a late-period Asia album, the ten tracks on Battle Lines were mostly co-written by Wetton and keyboardist Bob Marlette; the combination of their less-than-memorable melodies and undistinguished lyrics with Ron Nevison's smooth-as-glass production makes Battle Lines an almost entirely forgettable album with little to recommend it for anyone but the most devoted members. of Wetton's cult following. The man himself has dismissed this album in subsequent interviews, characterizing it as a misbegotten feint at the adult contemporary marketplace.

John Kenneth Wetton (12 June 1949 – 31 January 2017) was an English progressive rock singer, bassist, and songwriter. He was born in Willington, Derbyshire, and grew up in Bournemouth.

Band Name John Wetton. Album Name Battle Lines. 1. Right Where I Wanted To Be. 2.

This is not John Wetton's first solo album, but it was the first one he did after his participation in Asia. Wetton eventually left and Asia soldiered on with John Payne on vocals and after a collaboration album with Phil Manzanera, Wetton's solo career begun for real with Battle Lines. Robert Fripp appears on this album, but Battle Lines has clearly more to do with Asia than with King Crimson. Indeed, Battle Lines can be seen a continuation of late 80's Asia in the 90's
