Bloodlust is the sixth studio album by American heavy metal band Body Count. The track "Here I Go Again" is a re-recording of a demo track from Ice T's Return of the Real sessions. Body Count is the eponymous debut studio album by American crossover thrash band Body Count, released on March 31, 1992 by Sire Records. The album's material focuses on various social and political issues ranging from police brutality to drug abuse. It also presents a turning point in the career of Ice-T, who co-wrote the album's songs with lead guitarist Ernie C and performed as the band's lead singer. The second track, No Lives Matter, deals with innocent African-American citizens who have been killed by cops.

In an interlude on Body Count’s seventh album, Bloodlust, Marrow explains that he started the band to provide the metal-loving Cunnigan with a musical vehicle while also expressing his own love for three key influences: Black Sabbath, Suicidal Tendencies, and Slayer. If you don't mind Marrow’s didactic style, the impromptu Q&A comes off with some charm, as if Marrow were standing at a lectern expounding on the band’s history.

Body Count have been holding a magnifying glass up to systemic racism and social unrest since the early '90s, but never has their expletive-macerated brand of everyman vitriol felt more relevant than it does on 2017's Bloodlust. There's nothing particularly groundbreaking about the 11-track set - Ice-T rages against the machine in its myriad forms while Ernie C. racks up kills with his six-string - but it so cogently reflects the political and social divides of its time that its apoplexy feels unusually palpable.
