From the dance-punk hammering of the Prodigy to the wistful Anglo-pop of John Cale, Carnahan obviously wrote much of the film around the songs, and it's an awfully good collection as far as soundtracks go. The Stooges appear with "Down on the Street" Lemmy and the gang deal out the "Ace of Spades" and even the very obscure Skull Snaps throw down with "Trespassing," but by the time Ennio Morricone delivers the "Morte di un Soldat" from the Good, the Bad and the Ugly, it begins to feel a little derivative.

A soundtrack album is any album that incorporates music directly recorded from the soundtrack of a particular feature film or television show. The first such album to be commercially released was Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the soundtrack to the film of the same name, in 1938. The first soundtrack album of a film's orchestral score was that for Alexander Korda's 1942 film Jungle Book, composed by Miklós Rózsa.
