Sucker Punch is Sigrid’s debut studio album, released on March 8, 2019 via Island Records. Don’t Kill My Vibe was released as the lead single in February 2017, and later served as the title track for an EP released in May that year (which also features Sucker Punch’s closing track, Dynamite ). Although the original date was meant to be March 1st, it was later postponed to the 8th. Sucker Punch Q&A. What has Sigrid said about the album? Sigrid said in an interview with Notion, I’ve written, co-written and co-arranged all of the songs on the album. A lot of it has been made in my hometown actually. Production wise, the album is quite eclectic.

Sucker Punch is the debut album by Sigrid. It was released on March 8, 2019, through Island Records. When I started writing at 16 years old by myself in my parents’ house in Ålesund in Norway, I was dreaming of making an album, and this is exactly what I was hoping for, maybe in the beginning we thought it would come quicker, but it turns out my schedule was off the hook cuh-raaazy. I was just running around everywhere. I’m also glad that it happened, though, because it gave me all these new songs.

16/39 Sigrid – Sucker Punch. At her best, Sigrid throws out precision-tooled high notes like icicle javelins into vast, blue Scandi-produced skies. Then she growls like an Icelandic volcano preparing to disrupt western civilisation until we sort ourselves out. l enjoyed the muted, Afro-tinged authenticity of Level Up and the conscious, pasty-girl reggae of Business Dinners (on which she refuses to be an industry angel) and I loved the Robyn-esque rush of Basic (which sees her yearning to shed love’s complications).

Debut album ‘Sucker Punch’ shows the best of both of these sides of Sigrid, though thankfully it’s the edgier one that wins out. Take album highlight ‘Business Dinners’, a bouncing number in which the 22-year-old tells industry bigwigs that she’s more than just pictures, numbers, figures and ‘In Vain’, a spindly number that shows off Sigrid’s voice at its rawest. It’s this transparent and stripped-back side of Sigrid that is the most relatable. Most of all, though, it’s reassuring that ‘Sucker Punch’ doesn’t feel like a meticulously choreographed and cunning plot to make Sigrid a International Pop Superstar. These songs may well do that all on its own, and its certainly a marvellous cap on a two-year campaign that did just about everything right – but it’s also more than that.

Sucker Punch" is a song recorded by Norwegian singer-songwriter Sigrid for her upcoming debut studio album of the same name. It was released on 4 October 2018 as the third single from the album. Sucker Punch" was recorded in the singer's hometown. A power pop number, it was written by Sigrid, Martin Sjølie, and Emily Warren.

Sigrid: Sucker Punch album artwork. Its video, meanwhile, showcased Sigrid’s striking, anti-glam aesthetic: she writhed unsexily across a makeshift stage clad in primary-coloured outfits, conspicuously bare-faced behind curtains of brown hair. It was a vivid, memorable combination and a remarkably effective branding exercise, singling Sigrid out from the stream of young Nordic artists that have attempted to break Britain in recent years.

Sucker Punch is the album name and it summarises it in a pretty cool way, because all of the songs are a sucker punch. Whether it's a ballad or a big pop song-they're very in your face. Mine Right Now This track is inspired by ’80s music. You can’t be positive without knowing what sadness really is, Sigrid tells Apple Music. You're not either/or, and I guess that comes from me as well. The Norwegian’s breakthrough track, Don’t Kill My Vibe, perfectly captured this sentiment. A pop rocket detailing a bruising experience of being belittled as a young female writer, its DNA runs strong through her debut. There are as many middle fingers to record label execs and terrible boys as there are joyous odes to her band and self-empowerment. Join Sigrid for a tour of her head, and Sucker Punch.
