I bought Meliah Rage's first cd KILL TO SURVIVE back in the day and that was the last I heard of them until '09 when I caught word they were still around. Lo and behold their newer material is great. This is definitely a band that has gotten BETTER with age even while remaining in obscurity. Meliah Rage plays music ahead of their time. They change beat in their songs much like Sabbath used to. Deep and Dreamless Sleep is by far their best album in my opinion but none of their work has been in the least disappointing. I highly recommend Meliah Rage for all serious rock fans.
Like the others, Meliah Rage was one of the first thrash acts to sign to a major (their debut, Kill to Survive, was issued via Epic in 1988), but unlike the others, Meliah Rage failed to achieve the same amount of press and Headbangers Ball spins. Regardless, the group has soldiered on - on a somewhat regular basis - ever since. Despite a healthy amount of lineup shifts over the years, most of the original Meliah Rage lineup was back in place for 2006's The Deep and Dreamless Sleep (save for singer Mike Munro, who has been replaced by Paul Souzo)
I absolutely love Meliah Rage. Always have, ever since the band emerged from the streets of Boston in 1988 with the highly underated "Kill To Survive" . Production is a quantum leap ahead from the last album, and I'd have to say that if anything, the thing that can really be appreciated with this recording is the fact that it can certainly be heralded as the bands best produced album thus far.
Twenty years after the creation of Meliah Rage, the band from Boston is still alive. The Deep And Dreamless Sleep" is their new album and marks the return of the original drummer Stuart Dowie.
