Description

Wanexa - The Man From Colours.

referencing The Man From Colours, 12", Single, RE, RM, DE-132. Well, the "original master tape" is a ferric compact cassette, so you'll never hear a really good quality recording of this track. To everybody complaining about the sound of this pressing of Wanexa: You haven't heard the original. It sounds just like this. This (like 'Mind Games' by Jojo, and 'Life With You' by Expansives) is one of those records where the music was magical, but the technical process was tainted.

In stock now for same day shipping. The Man From Colours. The 1982 bombshell, originally out on Discomagic Records, goes by the name of "The Man From Colours", and it is a special track indeed, one that's full of romantic charm, mystery and plenty of proto-house vibes. Its vocals will be embedded in your mind forever upon first listen, and you get an instrumental cut on the flip, too.

The Man From Colours' was recorded in Milan in 1982 and released on Discomagic Records the same year. The song's music was composed by Rago and Farina, with lyrics written by Xenia Monneret, who was only 16 at the time. Mournful synth pads are buoyed by an 808 groove, while Lyana Galis provides haunting vocals, singing of a man who will bring color to this grey world. The Man From Colours' was influential on early House and Techno music thanks to support from WBMX in Chicago and and WJLB in Detroit

How can the original be indentified, compared to the repress??.ANy info would be great

Original has a green label, Dark Entries is more of an orange. Hope that helps!

Just ordered the Dark Entries re-mastered repress. Assuming its official/licensed? In the release notes they talk about the low-fi nature of the original recording (inc. the intro), so I'm curious to hear what their remaster sounds like. Anyone know if it has been remastered from a vinyl copy or the original tapes? (There's another 2016 'official replica' version listed on discogs on the Private label, that suggests it was made using the original tapes - but it doesn't appear to have been released yet?)

Excuse me, just an info, Where can i find this private pressing ?

The Private Reissue sounds way better for my taste! Word

overall, the remaster sounds OK. there are a few random EQ drops, but I believe these are in the original recording. my only complaint is the pressing... I hear crackles and scratchy sounds during the first 30 seconds of both tracks. I heard similar crackles on the DE edition of 'I'm Looking For You' by Ghibli. if I were you, I'd wait for the Private pressing. I asked them on Facebook and they assured me their pressing is from the original tapes.

Dark Entries is working on a clean repress...

An amazingly rare record. Last one sold was on ebay back in February (2013) and sold for over $200. But wow, its worth it! This song is something I really wish I could own. Such a brilliant atmosphere. It's like Jean Michel Jarre was involved at some point. This is one of my favorite Italo songs. Probably my most favorite song full stop.

Btw, 200$ is money - I am not saying it's not. but if you think that's alot for 32 years record, I sold partial unofficial cd from around 2000 in 115 euro (;And what will you say about Moskow that even 10 years ago used to getting sold at 2000 and more..

But you know sir, when I see the history of this ridiculous release you can't expect me to put it for sale in cheap. But it doesn't matter, I don't sell and never sold a record here, no matter at what price.

If you don't like it then put it up on Discogs for a cheap price. I'd definitely buy it!

An amazingly shitty record. I received it back then for around 15 euro. otherwise, I wouldn't put quarter a euro on it these days and the upcoming 50 years.

For all the hype it's recieved, I'm surprised no one has commented on this track already. In my humble opinion, the track is an excellent example of early italo disco. One of the first Rago-Farina prodcutions, the song is a deep electro based track (note the 808 drum at the beginning) with a distinct female vocal singing throughout. Althought half of the vocals/lyrics are impossible to understand, this remains one of the deepest italo disco songs due to its dark and mysterious nature. Franco Rago and Gianluigie Farina would go onto produce much better songs, but no other would create such a captivating atmosphere.
