Description

A Map of the Floating City - Студийный альбом от Thomas Dolby. Вышел 24 октября 2011г. В альбом вошло 28 треков.

A Map Of The Floating City.

Largely absent from the music scene since 1992's Astronauts & Heretics, '80s synth pop pioneer Thomas Dolby appears to be making up for lost time with his fifth effort, A Map of the Floating City, a rather ambitious concept album released in conjunction with a same-name video game based on a dystopian vision of the 1940s.

It is his first full-length studio album since 1992’s Astronauts & Heretics. Many of the songs were released prior to the album, on his 2010 EPs Amerikana and Oceanea. A Map Of The Floating City Q&A. Featuring Eddi Reader & Regina Spektor. More Thomas Dolby albums. Show all albums by Thomas Dolby.

Thomas Dolby, the iconic '80s star whose smash hits ''She Blinded Me With Science'' and ''Hyperactive'' helped define the MTV n, will break his 20-year silence with A Map of the Floating City.

Recorded 2009-2011 at The Nutmeg of Consolation. Additional recordings at Real World; British Grove; Gemini Ipswich UK; Glenwood Place; Bad Robot; The Way; Unit X. Mastered at Super Audio Mastering Ltd, Devon UK. Mark Knopfler appears courtesy of Mercury Music group, Warner Music Group. Regina Spektor appears courtesy of Sire Records. Packaging is dual-fold 'digipak' style case.

Thomas Dolby describes his first album in 20 years as a travelogue across three imaginary continents and the return of the Eighties electro boffin - best known for She Blinded Me With Science - is a slick, dreamlike affair that touches on limpid jazz grooves, shimmering ambience and country-ish twang.

People might naturally assume that Thomas Dolby - the man who once yelled "Science!" at us back in the New Wave days of the early '80s - is still grooving to all things electronic. And some Louis Armstrong, too.
