The title "Torrential Reign" was the original title for the 4th Diabolic full-length until the member shake-up. Some of the song titles were also to be used for the would-be Diabolic album.

The production here is much better: the album feels like it was created by actual humans rather than Pro Tools-abusing androids. The songwriting is decent, but the material is not going to sound exceptional to anyone who has heard more than a half-dozen archetypal Florida death metal albums. This is solid Florida death metal with good production and above-average musicianship, yet there is nothing in particular to recommend it over dozens of other albums that could be described in just the same way.

Unholy Ghost is Diabolic in everything but name, with all the shortcomings and defects that entails. Torrential Reign is a solid, unremarkable second-tier album from a band that shouldn’t have existed in the first place. It is reliable in what it does, but that doesn’t make it good. In good old Diabolic tradition the record starts off with ‘The Calling Of Sin’, a blasting opener that attempts to recapture the alchemy of ‘Extinction Level Event’ or ‘Sacrament Of Fiends’.
