Piero Umiliani (17 July 1926 – 14 February 2001) was an Italian composer of film scores, and is most famous for his song "Mah Nà Mah Nà" and orchestra score "Arrivano I Marines". Umiliani was born in Florence, Tuscany. Like many of his Italian colleagues at that time, he composed the scores for many exploitation films in the 1960s and 1970s, covering genres such as Spaghetti Westerns, Eurospy, Giallo, and softcore sex films. His composition "Crepuscolo Sul Mare" was later used in Ocean's Twelve.

Effetti Musicali is a 1968 Piero Umiliani homemade album that exposes his art and his versatility. Listening to this album seems to show him among his keyboards and other implements to overlap sounds and create situations with no outside producer influence, in full artistic freedom. The result is an experimental psychedelic Electro-acoustic album. Here, Umiliani writes asoundtrack that mixes soul, jazz, bossa nova and lounge, which recalls theworks of Henry Mancini and Quincy Jones, with a vague lighthearted andeasygoing flavour, part of Umiliani’s typical trademark. La morte bussa due volte was originally published on LP only in 1969 byCinevox Record, and never in the same format until now. With AMSRecords, this album finally sees the light again, with a new artwork, agatefold cover and an extended tracklisting in comparison to the originalrelease.
