Last, but by no means least, was my experience working with Sting. I was still buzzing from the news that 'Baby Come Back' had sold 30 million copies worldwide when my phone rang. It was Stoker calling from LA in a very excited voice, explaining that Sting had found out that he had produced my hit single and wanted him to do a reggae remix of'This Cowboy Song' . When all is said and done, I have been very blessed and I thank God for all the amazing opportunities and experiences I have enjoyed. Play on! Pato Banton January, 2008.
Banton's debut album was the 1985, Mad Professor-produced Mad Professor Captures Pato Banton, followed in 1987 by Never Give In, which included a collaboration with Paul Shaffer and a follow-up to his earlier collaboration with Ranking Roger with "Pato and Roger Come Again". Banton then worked on a live album and with Mad Professor, and then released 1992's Universal Love. The album featured a song covered by Banton called "United We Stand", which was written by fellow Birmingham musician Ray Watts, of the group Beshara. Positive Vibrations (2007). Pato Banton is a reggae artist from Birmingham, England who peaked in the early 1990s with the number one hit "Baby Come Back", a cover of the classic The Equals song. He first began recording in 1982 regularly teaming up with Ranking Roger of The Beat (sometimes referred to outside the UK as The English Beat). Pato also appeared as a guest artist on UB40's 1985 album "Baggariddim".
Banton's debut album, Mr. Mention, includes many of his greatest hits from that year including "Bonafide Love" featuring Wayne Wonder, the singer who first brought Buju out as a guest star on the annual Jamaican stage show Sting. 1992 also saw the unsanctioned re-release of "Boom Bye Bye," a controversial song recorded several years earlier when the artist was 15 years old, which resulted in a backlash that threatened to destroy his career.
