Oscar Moore (December 25, 1916 – October 8, 1981) was an American swing jazz guitarist. Moore was an integral part of the Nat King Cole Trio during 1937–1947, appearing on virtually all of Cole's records during the period. A superb and influential guitarist, Moore was himself influenced by Charlie Christian. Barney Kessel once said that Moore practically created the role of the jazz guitarist in small combos. Unfortunately, Moore's post-Cole career was not very successful
It was primarily driven by three successive music recording formats, the 33 1⁄3 rpm LP record, the audiocassette and the music Compact disc. Rock musicians were often at the forefront of the era.
Guitarist Oscar Moore, who will always be best-known for his years with the Nat King Cole Trio, had a couple of opportunities to record as a leader in the mid-'50s but despite the worthy music, his solo career never caught on. This CD reissue of a Tampa LP matches the swing guitarist with pianist Carl Perkins, bassist Joe Comfort and drummer Lee Young for a brief easy-listening set of standards and basic originals.
Oscar Frederic Moore (December 25, 1915 – October 8, 1981) was an American jazz guitarist who spent ten years with the Nat King Cole Trio. Moore was born in Austin, Texas, but grew up in Los Angeles. During the 1930s he often worked with his brother, Johnny, who was also a guitarist. Beginning in 1937, he spent ten years with Nat King Cole in the guitar-bass-piano trio format that influenced Oscar Peterson, Art Tatum, and Ahmad Jamal. After he left Cole, he joined his brother in Johnny Moore's Three Blazers through the 1950s

In 1993, Oscar Peterson suffered a stroke that limited the use of his left hand, though there is little evidence to prove that poses a problem on this recording. The CD includes seven original compositions written by Oscar Peterson. Rob Roy" written for Roy Hargove and "She Has Gone" written in memory of Ella Fitzgerald are captivating. I especially enjoy "Ecstasy," where an introspective emotional reading is heard from Peterson, Hargrove and Moore.
