I'm Alive is the lead and title track by Jackson Browne from his 1993 album I'm Alive. The song reached on the Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart and on the Adult Contemporary Chart in the United States. Promo CD Single Cover. Single by Jackson Browne. Jackson Browne singles chronology. World in Motion" (1989). Sky Blue and Black" (1994).

I'm Alive is a striking return to the kind of romantic subject matter that the Los Angeles singer and songwriter seemed to have abandoned after 1980 in favor of political songwriting. His finest album in nearly two decades, it has much in common with his 1974 masterpiece, Late For The Sky, whose songs also described the disintegration of a relationship. The album's best lyrics offer glimpses of phrase-making brilliance  . Putting Third World and rain forest politics on hold, Jackson Browne delivers a near-definitive collection of lost-love laments. Sinatra used to make brilliant records capturing a single mood; "I'm Alive" is that kind of tone poem, and its color is blue.

In those days, artists like Jackson Browne and the Eagles redefined American rock. On later albums such as Late for the Sky (1974), The Pretender (1976) and Running on Empty (1978), Browne became the heartbreak kid, a misunderstood male looking for a heroic love. I’m Alive shudders with the pain of someone who’s been soundly dumped. And Browne has even gained a sense of gallows humor. Between despondent cries for reconciliation, the singer indulges in refreshingly silly self-deprecation. Yet there is something relentless about Browne’s pretty misery; the album evokes the same near-suicidal dread that made The Pretender so wonderful and so exhausting. On a cheerier note, Common Threads: The Songs of the Eagles, an all-star, all-country cover album, celebrates the drawling kick and rumble that ran through the Eagles’ music.

Jackson Browne (born Clyde Jackson Browne; October 9, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter known for having sold millions of albums worldwide. First coming to prominence in the 70s, the rock musician has had a long career and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Browne was born in Heidelberg, Germany, his father being an American serviceman stationed in the nation, but he moved to the Highland Park district of Los Angeles, California at an early age and soon began singing folk music locally.

I've only just been acquainted with Jackson Browne although the rip from the friends episode of "Blue Sky Black" has been with me since that episode aired and the reason I finally sought to find the artist. Just for that song alone, this album is worth the high price, it's an all time classic, this guys lyrics are up there with some of the best of all time, a true poet. The pressing is superb, very quiet surface and excellent sonics. I'll listen to it as a whole some more and make my mind up about the rest, but very pleased to have a copy.
