What also sets "Into the darkness of my soul" apart is the strong doom metal presence. While certainly remaining within the black metal genre it is strongly flavoured by doom, and atmosphere-wise it leans close to Shape of Despair or even Mourning Beloveth with its very saddened aura. While the tempo is rather slow there’s definitely enough variation to keep it interesting, and the slow pace also means the riffing is the main-focus of the music. Golgara has definitely gathered a lot of great riffs and lines. It’s definitely an interesting debut album, but with a more coherent production and more versatility in the vocal department it’d go up a notch. However highly recommended to fans of the particular depressive style of black metal, since this is way better than the majority of half-arsed attempts to sound harsh and evil.
