Description

Shape Shift with Me is the seventh studio album by American punk rock band Against Me!, released on September 16, 2016 on Total Treble Music and Xtra Mile. The title is a lyric from the song "Norse Truth", which appears as track 10. Shape Shift with Me features a shift in vocal style on many of its songs, with Grace hailed for a more spoken word-like structure in her singing on songs such as "12:03", "333" and "Norse Truth".

Against Me! released White Crosses, their second album with Sire, on June 8, 2010 (although it was leaked about 3 months earlier). It was supported by singles for "I Was a Teenage Anarchist", "White Crosses", and "High Pressure Low" and was their highest-charting album to date, reaching no. 34 on the Billboard 200. On the eve of a scheduled tour. In July 2016, the band announced their seventh studio album Shape Shift with Me would be released on September 16. The band also immediately released a song from the album, "333". On August 10, 2016, a second song, "Haunting, Haunted, Haunts" was released via the Adult Swim Singles Program 2016.

Shape Shift with Me, an album recorded with a new lineup of Against Me! that's still anchored by Grace and guitarist James Bowman, goes a long way toward addressing that question. As an album, Shape Shift with Me doesn't feel as urgent as Transgender Dysphoria Blues. for. her own Transgender Dysphoria Blues felt like an unrestrained howl but on Shape Shift with Me, Grace feels comfortable within her own skin, happy to not have every song on her album be a statement.

With passionate power and reckless behavior, Against Me! encompasses a road-raging journey of Punk Rock. Beginning almost two decades ago, 1997 brought this Floridian band to life, revving the engines to a speedy and lengthy start. Envisioned and assembled by Vocalist Laura Jane Grace, the ensemble slowly began to take shape when 2001 rolled around, bringing Guitarist James Bowman with it. Initially a solo act, the world of Punk Rock would not the same without the creation of a whole suit brought to the picture. Completely catchy and memorable in every way, Shape Shift With Me is turning into an album of the year must-have. Chill vibes and groovy beats, Delicate, Petite, & Other Things I’ll Never Be is absolutely brilliant. Combining everything that Punk bands aspire to be, Against Me! just goes to show what pure talent actually sounds like.

For Shape Shift with Me, Against Me! frontwoman Laura Jane Grace proves that writing a bunch of broken-hearted pop songs is always a good option. There are plenty of punk ragers here, such as Dead Rats, but jangly odes to heartache "Crash" and "Boyfriend" bounce and chime in ways that no other Against Me! songs ever have, while "Rebecca" is a fizzy New Wave ode to the anxiety spawned by new love. How does a punk follow up a landmark album such as Transgender Dysphoria Blues? For Shape Shift with Me, Against Me! frontwoman Laura Jane Grace proves that writing a bunch of broken-hearted pop songs is always a good option.

In all, Shape Shift With Me is 38-plus minutes of blistering punk rock. Opening with "ProVision L-3," Against Me! wastes little time in setting a high-energy atmosphere. Drummer Atom Willard, formerly of Rocket From the Crypt, displays his furious ability for nearly two straight minutes, setting the tone for the rest of the album. All This (And More)" is the album closer and does an incredible job at tying up any loose ends. Against Me! does a remarkable job of echoing The Rolling Stones' vibe as Grace speaks on ridding herself of her past regrets. Norse Truth," which weaves in the title of the record into the lyrics, offers everything this album is about: unapologetic, erotic, angry, and personal wordplay with classic Against Me! musicianship. The song is a testament to the growth of the group, and serves as the defining moment on not only this album, but possibly of their career.

Shape Shift With Me is the 7th full lenghth studio album by Against Me!. According to Laura, some of the songs on the album are love songs and some are traditional Against Me! protest songs. Submitted By thatgirl.
