Johnny Pacheco (born 25 March 1935) is a Dominican musician, arranger, composer, producer, and bandleader of Cuban music (guaracha, son montuno, danzón, cha cha chá, guajira-son, pachanga).
For decades, Johnny Pacheco has been at the center of the Latin music universe. At the same time Pacheco was taking courses at the famed Juilliard School of music. He formed a charanga orchestra (Cuban style flute and violin group) after leaving Tito and starting in 1960 recorded 4 legendary albums for the then Alegre Record company owned by Al Santiago. In 1964 he was hired to play at the Cuban Pavilion exhibit at the NY World's Fair.

Johnny Pacheco (born March 25,1935 in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic) is an Afro Dominican producer, musician, bandleader, and one of the most influential figures in salsa music. Pacheco inherited his passion for music from his father, Rafael Azarias Pacheco, who was the bandleader and clarinetist of the Santa Cecilia Orchestra. In the late 1940s, when Pacheco was 11, his family moved to New York City from his native Dominican Republic. He continued polishing his musical skills, learning to play accordion, violin, saxophone and clarinet.
