I remember John asking me to add a harmony vocal on this song of his "Last Stand On The Land". This session was back in the glory days of independent record labels. The Nineteen Recording Studio, where we recorded this, was on the banks of Roaring Brook, a wild crazy river-streamlet that came crashing down from the apple orchard hills of South Glastonbury. In the springtime that cold brook water smelled like apple blossoms. I have a real fondness for this record - & for John's songwriting. I always loved his song "Ontario" and the images & pictures it conjured up. "I played all night for those dance hall friends of mine Thinking of you and thinking of home; Last call came and went and came again And all of the faces turned to stone." Thinking of those days, and recording sessions like these, I will quote a song of mine. "When you're young & in the picture living is such sweet poverty. Nothing has to fit you - & you still ain't what you want to be.." -Grayson Hugh
