The Brides of Funkenstein. Featuring Jerry Jones, Bernie Worrell, Bruce Nazarian & 1 more. Produced by George Clinton. My granny had a saying: "Without humps, there would be no getting over. You pay for what you get, (Oooh) And hardly ever get what you pay for. (Never been to school) Life's full of ups and downs You got to find your own high ground Mother Wit is your connection. Oh) Use it for your protection. While you're in Brooklyn).
This time, the Brides were a trio instead of a duo. Dawn Silva was still on board, but Lynn Mabry was gone, and Silva's new allies were Sheila Horne and Jeannette McGruder. With the new lineup in place, the Brides delivered a sophomore effort that is as unpredictable as their first album, Funk or Walk. Smoke Signals" (which Clinton wrote and produced with Bootsy Collins) and "Party Up in Here" are very Parliament-like, which is to be expected. But "I'm Holding You Responsible" and the 15-minute title song find the Brides delivering.
Studio album by Brides of Funkenstein. Horne and McGruder served as background vocalists on subsequent P-Funk concert tours. The song slated for the award was the 1979 single "Didn't Mean To Fall In Love", written and produced by Ron Dunbar.
The Brides Of Funkenstein - Didn't Mean to Fall In Love 03:58. The Brides Of Funkenstein - I'm Holding You Responsible 05:31. The Brides Of Funkenstein - Smoke Signals 06:43. Funk Or Walk - The Brides Of Funkenstein.
Morphing into a trio on the second album release, the vocalists consisted of Dawn Silva, Sheila Horne, and Jeanette McGruder.
