Color Wheel begins on a calm note with Black, White, and Red All Over, where keyboardist Darrius Wilrich lays down gospel-inspired melody on a Fender Rhodes that welcomes the listener like a piano player in a hotel lobby, but with the slightest tinge of edge. Things quickly transition into the highly produced lush spacey swells of electronic sound that has become the calling card of Black Constellation members (Erik Blood engineered and mixed Color Wheel) as soon as the track switches to Wish.

OCNotes - Hum Drum Killas (MP3). The genre-bending musician Otis Calvin III is one of Seattle's more prolific artists, both in a collaborative and solo capacity under the moniker OCNotes. Discovering a passion for music as a youth in church, Calvin's musical range is only rivaled by his release rate – a quick look at his Bandcamp page shows 14 releases dating back to 2006, including a radical reimagining of the soundtrack to The Wiz, a cover of Beck's Song Reader, and his latest release, 2015's Color Wheel  .

OCnotes is Otis Calvin III, a Seattle-based DJ/diviner, beatmaker, and bard. His albums and live sets run psychedelic hiphop and jazz through convex progressions of dub, soul, and house. At any given moment, OC will pick up a guitar or bass, play keys, or sing with a handsome voice you're surprised yet not surprised to hear coming out of him. In Seattle's endlessly sprouting landscape of bland shit boxes, OCnotes is that ancient bungalow on the corner with Corinthian columns, stone gargoyles, and cracked marble trim-a castle the developers can't touch.
