Andy Warhol (/ˈwɔːrhɒl/; born Andrew Warhola; August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987) was an American artist, director and producer who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. Most people know Andy Warhol for his screenprints of celebrities and for his elaborate studio, The Factory. He was actually a commercial illustrator for years (and a successful one, at that) before pursuing a fine art career full-time. Additionally, he stayed close to the music scene, creating friendships with the Velvet Underground, the Rolling Stones, and others. Other movies include Poor Little Rich Girl (1965) and Lupe (1966), both of which featured Edie Sedgwick.
