Takashi Shimura (志村 喬 Shimura Takashi, March 12, 1905 – February 11, 1982) was a Japanese actor who appeared in over 200 films between 1934 and 1981. He is particularly noted for his appearances in 21 of Akira Kurosawa's 30 films (more than any other actor), including as a lead actor in Drunken Angel (1948), Rashomon (1950), Ikiru (1952) and Seven Samurai (1954).

Tetsuya Kakihara (柿原 徹也 Kakihara Tetsuya, born December 24, 1982, in Düsseldorf, West Germany) is a Japanese voice actor and singer. Previously affiliated with 81 Produce, he became a freelancer as of June 2013. He set up his own agency, Zynchro, in July 2014. Since 2010, Kakihara has been affiliated with Kiramune, a music label by Bandai Visual and Lantis, where he debuted as a singer with his first mini album, Still on Journey

Kaori (カオリ) was Tetsuo Shima's love interest in both the anime and manga versions. Her role differs from the manga, but her personality remains constant as that of a shy and timid girl. In the anime, she stood by Tetsuo, even though he treated her with abuse in the hopes of appearing tough to his friends

Takashi (designated No. 26) is a member of the Espers, a group of psychic children cared for by the government of Neo-Tokyo. He plays an important role in Tetsuo Shima's psychic awakening as well as Neo-Tokyo's destruction. Takashi is a young boy with very wrinkled skin and short white hair, and has a skinnier body compared to Masaru, who is overweight. Despite having the body of a child, he has premature aging, which makes him appear between her late 40's and early 50's.
