Letra e musica de The American Popular Song de Neil Diamond ?. It's a popular song, an American popular song. And there's something about it, can't live without it. It's the tune of the day, somehow it takes you away and it grabs you, and it holds you, feel it control you, makes you want to clap your hands. Makes you want to stomp your feet. Makes you want to sing along. The American popular song goes on and on. The American popular song goes on and on and on. It's a popular song.

Artist: Neil Diamond. Album: You Don't Bring Me Flowers. An American popular song. A simple story wrapped up in glory. Once you hear it you know you got to hear it some more.

American Popular Song Vocal Pop Adult Contemporary Movie Themes Show Tunes. On this lazy, nearly shameless album (two CDs that don't even make it to 70 minutes combined), Neil Diamond visits movie songs past ("As Time Goes By") and present ("My Heart Will Go On") with stops along the way for takes on almost anything you would anticipate an album and artist like this would cover ("Unchained Melody"? There. Can You Feel the Love Tonight"? Ditto. Moon River"? Yep, it's there.

You can also sort the list of songs by year recorded (from oldest to newest, and from most recent to first recorded), by Song Rank (popularity rank of song versus all other songs) and by album name.

Neil Diamond was one of many developing singer-songwriters of the 1960's trying to make a name for himself. He penned many iconic songs early in his career, though his own recordings did not get the attention of the public. His real rise to fame on his own didn't occur until 1968 when his first album, The Feel Of Neil Diamond, was released with the single "Solitary Man" and a followup single "Cherry Cherry" later in the year. He signed with Uni Records in 1968 and his hits kept coming for a while, "Sweet Caroline," "Song Sung Blue," "Cracklin' Rosie," and "Holly Holy" cemented his fame as a song writer. In 1972 he played 10 sold out concerts at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles

The Neil Diamond 50th anniversary Album inspired me to do so. I have a number of Neil Diamond greatest hits or best of albums and while they are good, they all lack something. Some have live songs rather than the original hit song. Some sets are missing songs that I like. Between the years 1966 and 1983 Neil Diamond was one of the most consistent hit makers in American popular music. During this period he placed an impressive total of more than 50 singles on the Billboard Top 100 charts. All the while Neil was selling tons of albums and filling concert halls and arenas all across America. For years I have been waiting for a comprehensive anthology of Neil Diamond's impressive body of work.
