The Amity Affliction is an Australian metalcore band from Gympie, Queensland, formed in 2003. The band's current line-up consists of Ahren Stringer (clean vocals, bass, keyboards, and formerly guitar), Joel Birch (unclean vocals), Dan Brown (guitar) and Joe Longobardi (drums, percussion).

The Amity Affliction once had that something a lot of Australian ‘scene’ bands lacked. And it’s a shame it never stuck, because they were once the equally fantastic alternative to Parkway Drive. But just as their counterparts have, they’ve forgone what little originality they possessed and progressed through regression. On follow-up track ‘Burn Alive’, easily one of the worst tracks on the album, we’re greeted with the opener I’ll burn alive for you/Burn alive, it’s true, followed by Joel Birch’s coarse vocal delivery that sounds incredibly forced; Let’s start a fire, I’m terrified, I’m terrified. The vocals, however, are but a minor trash fire in an already-raging full-scale blaze.

The Amity Affliction. Released August 24, 2018. Misery is the sixth studio album by metalcore, post-hardcore band The Amity Affliction, which will be released on 24 August 2018 on Roadrunner Records. It is the first album to feature Defeater drummer Joe Longobardi, taking over the roll after the bands longtime drummer Ryan Burt left the band in January of 2018 citing mental health issues. Who is the new drummer on this album? So far, there has not been a statement released. We’ll have to wait for the personnel in the album booklet to know for sure.

The Amity Affliction have announced a new album, Misery, and are giving fans a taste of what it sounds like with their newest single, Ivy (Doomsday). The premiere of Ivy (Doomsday) also came with a new video, which is considered the first chapter of a three-part short film that tells the story of three friends looking for vengeance. fe The Amity Affliction is definitely my favourite band. Seeming as there's already a list for their best songs, I figured I'd make a list for the next best thing. The Top Ten. 1 Chasing Ghosts. Amity are able to put out an album which shows that music these days, isn't completely horrible and that there's still hope for the music industry. Pittsburgh is the perfect way to start off this album and Give It All is a perfect way to finish an album. Don't Lean On Me shows Amity's musicianship and The Weigh Down accomplishes this, too. Long story short, Let The Ocean Take Me is an incredible album and by far; the best of 2014.
