This band set the 5 Bells alight with an utterly infectious groovy and at times, insane performance
Pretty serious stuff but this, their debut album manages to straddle the point where incredible seriousness crosses over with utter ridiculousness in its reach and how much it tries to get away with
Last Copy! 1. 5 EUR . - Hip-hop.
One imagines that hallucinogenics might dramatically enhance the debut offering from London Afro-punks . but let's not downplay its inherent trippiness. The Intergalactic Republic of Kongo is primed and ready for take off. Formed in London but with Moroccan roots, . are equally at home supporting The Prodigy at Brixton Academy (as they did last year) as they are throwing impromptu guerrilla punk-dance parties in the shadows of the Sahara.

There are some bands you listen to and you think, Well, it’s just more of the same, isn’t it? The Intergalactic Republic of Kongo (. are emphatically not that kind of band. Here to make your mind melt and to make you lose your shit, they’re a nosebleed-inducing sonic dervish of tie-Boys electronica. We talk to frontman Mike Title ahead of this Saturday’s Halloween gig.
The Intergalactic Touring Band (IGTB) was not an actual music group but rather a science fiction pop music concept album released in 1977 by the now defunct Passport Records in America and Charisma Records in England. The ensemble album featured many star performers from progressive rock and other genres, including Meat Loaf, Ben E. King, Larry Fast (Synergy), Percy Jones, Annie Haslam, Rod Argent, Peppi Marchello (Good Rats), and many others
João I of Kongo (died 1509), alias Nzinga a Nkuwu or Nkuwu Nzinga, was ruler of the Kingdom of Kongo between 1470 and 1509. He was baptized as João on 3 May 1491 by Portuguese missionaries. Due to his interest in Portugal and its culture, he initiated a major cultural initiative in 1485 upon the arrival of Diogo Cão. It was under these conditions that the first Atlantic Creole emerged, forming in both Central Africa and in Portugal.
