Phase 4 Stereo was a series created in 1961, supposedly for better sound, by being recorded on a 10-channel, and later 20-channel, recording console. Approximately 200 LPs were released under this branch, including popular music, "gimmick" records engineered to make the sound travel from speaker to speaker, records featuring percussion effects, and historical sound-effect records. In 1964, a light-classical Phase 4 Stereo Concert Series was produced.

Stereo Fuse was formed in 2000 after guitarist Jeff Quay and drummer Chad Jenkins were forced to disband their previous group. The two left their former lead singer after a show in Atlanta in 2000, when the anonymous frontman told a particularly offensive joke and the band was asked to leave the stage. Discovering singer-songwriter in Dallas, the musicians formed Stereo Fuse and began writing and recording songs.

As for some of the album titles – The Immortal Works of Ketèlbey, for instance – they’re somewhat cheesy. Still, it’s all good fun, and a nostalgia trip to boot. Several of the original LP programmes – such as the Sousa marches – are reprised exactly on the corresponding CDs.
