The title appears as "Lumb's Sister" on the front sleeve and on the CD, as "Lumbs Sister" on the spine and the CD tray inner sleeve. Track durations do not appear on the release. The music on the album is some of the darkest in the Nurse With Wound catalogue. Despite having a reputation for the sinister, previous albums were generally interspersed with moments of humour and the occasional live instrument performance that brought some liveliness to the piece. Lumb's Sister opens with a cacophony of human voices, pitched and altered to sound demonic and growing in intensity throughout opening piece 'Finis Terra'. That translates to 'The End of the Earth'.

Nurse With Wound has been Steven Stapleton’s main musical outlet for some 30 years. artists and worked as a producer, remixer and, more recently, a critcially acclaimed soundtrack composer. As well as his musical output Stapleton is a highly accomplished and renowned painter and sculptor often working under the guise of ‘Babs Santini’.

Nurse with Wound's Lumb's Sister has been newly remastered from the original analog tapes by Denis Blackham. This music was originally conceived as raw material for the film project Lumb's Sister by Chris Wallis. During the long evolution of his movie, Chris decided to use alternative source sounds and subsequently none of these pieces ever made it onto the completed film.
