This excellent double LP contains 32 of Ivie Anderson's best vocals with Duke Ellington's orchestra, dating from 1932's "It Don't Mean a Thing" up to 1940's "Stormy Weather. Although Anderson was occasionally saddled with novelty tunes or forgettable items, this set finds her at her very best and these enjoyable titles also contain many fine solos from Ellington's sidemen.

Ivie Anderson (sometimes Ivy) (July 10, 1904 – December 28, 1949) was an American jazz singer. She enjoyed success during the 1930s, touring and recording with the band of Duke Ellington. She died in 1949, aged 45. Anderson was born in Gilroy, California. Although her mother's name is unknown, her father was Jobe Smith. Anderson lived at 724 E 52nd Place, Los Angeles, California, United States, North America, from 1930 to 1945, now part of the 52nd Place Historic District.
