Nina Hagen Band is the debut studio album by Nina Hagen Band. It was released on February 11, 1978 by CBS Records. It was the first release by German singer Nina Hagen after her 1976 expatriation from East Germany. When she arrived in Hamburg, her stepfather and singer-songwriter Wolf Biermann got her in touch with CBS. Hagen traveled to London where she was introduced to music genres such as punk and reggae, and befriended other artists including Ari Up of the band The Slits. After she returned to Germany, she met with musicians Herwig Mitteregger, Bernhard Potschka and Manfred Praeker. 1. "TV-Glotzer (White Punks on Dope)".

Catharina "Nina" Hagen (born 11 March 1955) is a German singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for her theatrical vocals and rose to prominence during the punk and new wave movements in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Hagen at the premiere of The Seventh Dwarf, September 2014. In 1978 they released their self-titled debut album, Nina Hagen Band, which included the single "TV-Glotzer" (a cover of "White Punks on Dope" by The Tubes, though with entirely different German lyrics), and "Auf'm Bahnhof Zoo", about West Berlin's then-notorious Berlin Zoologischer Garten station. The album also included a version of "Rangehn" ("Go for It"), a song she had previously recorded in East Germany, but with different music.

Tv-Glotzer (White Punks on Dope). The Nina Hagen Band is one of the few, perhaps the only album from my early years I still listen to really loud even now, close to thirty years after it first hit my consciousness. This is a dense, muscular punk album with an art-punk aesthetic, anchored by Hagen's incredible vocal range and power. She was an opera prodigy from the time she was 9 or 10, and you can really tell here. This was about 2003, and it shows that Hagen was way ahead of the curve in understanding the sweet spot price point for digital music.
