Lazar Naumovich Berman (Russian: Ла́зарь Нау́мович Бе́рман, Lazarʹ Naumovič Berman; February 26, 1930 – February 6, 2005) was a Soviet Russian classical pianist, Honoured Artist of the RSFSR (1988). He was hailed for a huge, thunderous technique that made him a thrilling interpreter of Liszt and Rachmaninoff and a late representative of the grand school of Russian Romantic pianism. Emil Gilels described him as a "phenomenon of the musical world".

Lazar Naumovich Berman (Russian Лазарь Наумович Берман, Lasari Naumovič Berman February 26, 1930 in Leningrad - February 6, 2005 in Florence) was a Soviet Russian classical pianist. Berman's playing showed great technical brilliance, showmanship, emotional and physical force. He had the endurance to play three concertos or sonatas in one night, and was considered a brilliant interpreter of Franz Liszt, winning the 1977 Franz Liszt Prize in Hungary for his interpretation of the Transcendental Studies.

Lazar Berman (1930-2005) plays Scriabin's Étude in B-flat minor, O., N. 1 as an encore at a concert in East Berlin (Metropol-Theater) in 1979. A wonderful performance of the Étude with great lyricism, clarity, poetry, and sensitive touch. English (UK) · Русский · Українська · Suomi · Español.

Lazar Berman (1930-2005) entered his first piano competition at the age of only three, and recorded a self-composed mazurka when he was only seven, before he could read music.
