Ruby Turner was also a product of the British R&B scene, but in the . she didn't enjoy nearly as much attention as Stansfield or Wheeler. 1990's Paradise wasn't a big seller in the . and the problem may have been insufficient promotion. Another possible reason for the CD's unimpressive sales is the fact that the material, although pleasant and enjoyable, is not fantastic. But then, many urban contemporary releases that had a lot less to offer did much better in 1990. At any rate, Turner shows a fair amount of promise on this album. Again, Paradise isn't a bad album. But Turner was capable of much more - both commercially and creatively.

She does great live performances and if you love soul music, she is a must. This album was mainly recorded with Womak & Womak. It's smooth and honest and has a bit of Raeggae influence too (Ruby is from Jamaica). Beautiful songs and a heartfelt production.
