The Scar remix of Dark Rider is excellent, definitely the standout track of this release. A modern take on a classic Goldie track. Scar do give this track the treatment. A seriously good remix that I like more every time I hear it. I love the drop. Like a hammer and then the bass effects start to come in. Love it; love every thing about it. Banging track. The "Dark Rider" remix is a prime example of minimal elements creating a tune greater than the sum of its parts. Anything Survival+Script, aka SCAR, has made in the past 3 years is worth picking up on vinyl. But I feel almost cheated with the Beachdrifta VIP. Here you have a lush, ambient intro building and swirling, it drops, then the track is over WAAAAY too soon. I'm looking at all the negative space on the vinyl and am kinda ticked off that this track is so short, and the build produced by the intro is over before you really get into the vibe.

Case in point: Goldie s return to his original Rufige Kru guise. First up, SCAR shake up his 1992 classic Dark Rider. Maintaining the deep bass plunges, twisted paranoid feels and staccato detuned riff while polishing the production and rebuilding the drums, it s a near on perfect example of remix craft. Then comes the VIP: 2000 s Beachdrifta gets the future treatment. All the beauty and bliss of the intro are present but now come with added raw soul as Cleveland Watkiss adds his haunted cries and that drop gets a turbo charged sheen into pure back hunched drama.
