Description

The Rolling Stones : Some Girls,альбом, рецезия, трек-лист, mp3, тексты песен.

Some Girls is the 14th British and 16th American studio album by the Rolling Stones, released in 1978 on Rolling Stones Records. It was the first album to feature guitarist Ronnie Wood as a full-time member; joining founder members Mick Jagger (vocals), Keith Richards (guitar), Bill Wyman (bass) and Charlie Watts (drums). Wood had contributed to some tracks on the Rolling Stones prior two albums, 1974's It's Only Rock 'n Roll and 1976's Black and Blue, and joined the band full time in 1976

Matt Monro (December 1, 1930 - February 7, 1985) was a ballad singer of the 1960s and one of great international postwar entertainers. Throughout his 30-year career he filled cabarets, nightclubs, music halls and stadiums across the globe, from Australia, Japan, the Philippines, and Hong Kong to Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas. He sold more than 25 million records during his lifetime (most of those sales however didn't come until after his death), imbuing each one with his elegant blend of majesty, sincerity, and superior technique.

The Some Girls sessions were famously productive – mostly just the five Stones and engineer Chris Kimsey holed up in a Paris studio cutting dozens of songs. It’s the ultimate version of the album that invented the Stones we’ve known ever since: mean, vital, gloriously unrepentant. Opening with the disco-blues thump of "Miss You," Some Girls is a tough, focused, and exciting record, full of more hooks and energy than any Stones record since Exile on Main St. Even though the Stones make disco their own, they never quite take punk on their own ground. Instead, their rockers sound harder and nastier than they have in years.

Side two of 'Some Girls' starts in a strange place with the woozy, country-fried 'Far Away Eyes,' which features Mick Jagger imitating a Southern drawl. It's all played as a 3/4 waltz with Ron Wood on pedal-steel guitar. In the end, it comes off a bit comical and a throwaway. No surprise that Jagger admitted in a 1995 interview, "I love country music, but I find it hard to take seriously. ) Not everyone in the band was on board with Jagger's performance. A year after the album was released, Keith Richards said that "Mick feels the need to get into. If the rest of 'Some Girls' was the Stones trying to make sense of the punk movement blowing up around them, 'Shattered,' the album's closing track, was the band embracing it. It doubles as Mick Jagger's blast at his adopted home of New York City: "You got rats on the West Side, bed bugs uptown, What a mess, this town's in tatters," he sings.
