Its listed under the jazz genre because yes there are some jazz elements but there are also world influences the opener definitely has a Gamelan undertone and very dynamic. As the title suggests this is mainly a rhythmic excursion around the world accented with 80s electronics, real percussion, kit, sax and guitar. The music is very melodic and some very hook laden. Listening to this in 2018 the recording is very pristine all the quieter dynamics can be heard and the I enjoy the fact Brian even includes some slide guitar into the mix. Who doesnt enjoy slide guitar and marimba! Ahh... the 80s when labels where more adventurous and so where alot of the terrestrial radio stations well, enough to play this sort of instrumental music. A slice of yesteryear always perks up the mind and body!
