Slipknot's fourth album came after a 4 year second hiatus, and saw even further exploration. This time, the band sounded more like a traditional metal band in some ways, wrote their version of a "power ballad" and were praised for sounding so "listenable.

I don’t think the world is ready for this album. I had no idea how ironic this statement would turn out to be. I was definitely not ready for an album that failed this miserably.

All Hope Is Gone - Slipknot. 13. Child Of Burning Time - Slipknot. The album itself is a mixed bag of melody and rage,buzzsaw guitars and lots of heavy drumming & precussion. The samples and turntables are toned down a bit on this album,Corey's voice is on point. Mixing some of the oldschool hardcore aggressive vocals and then the more melodic songs and vocals. Very Stone Sour with an excellent vocal performance, just doesn't really fit in terms of flow, with the other songs on the disc. I will say it is a good song though, just is better on its own or on a SS disc. But as far as the good: There is the track 'Gehenna' which is very, very old school Korn sounding, I mean big time, but it is an excellent track of pure atmosphere.
