Motion is an album by jazz saxophonist Lee Konitz, recorded in 1961 for Verve Records. It features drummer Elvin Jones and bassist Sonny Dallas. It is regarded by many as Konitz's finest album. The 1990 CD issue expanded the number of tracks from five to eight; a 1998 release then expanded this to 38, although most of the additional tracks were from different recording sessions with drummer Nick Stabulas instead of Elvin Jones.
A prolific jazz alto and an influential stylist for his dry, cerebral, subdued approach.

Lee Konitz (born October 13, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American jazz composer and saxophone player. Konitz is sometimes regarded as the preeminent cool jazz saxophonist, because he performed and recorded with Claude Thornhill, Lennie Tristano (both often cited as important cool jazz proponents of the mid 1940s), and with Miles Davis' on his epochal Birth of the Cool, which gave the form its name. Konitz has also been repeatedly noted as one of the few jazz saxophonists of the late 1940s and 1950s who did not seem imitative of the massively influential Charlie Parker.

You and Lee from 1958 is a fine post big band era record with charts by veteran West Coaster Jimmy Giuffre. It's by and large a fairly straightforward, cool swinging session with two surprises: one, that two oddballs like Giuffre and Konitz turned out a record that was so conventional; and two, that "Konitz" and "swing" could conceivably be used in the same sentence. But swing it does, in a traditional West Coast fashion-light, breezy swing expertly arranged by Giuffre and deftly approached by Konitz, who navigates the charts with detached precision
