Nakamura says that Dr. Octagon has always looked to the future. But rather than a futuristic conquest, Moosebumps brings to mind a collection of recently discovered Octagonecologyst outtakes. Dr. Octagonecologyst was an album that offered a genuinely unhinged alternative to the 1996 class of hip-hop and Keith, Nakamura, and QBert have recreated its uniquely creep chemistry in style. And yet only a handful of the tracks on Moosebumps- Operation Zero, the ghoulish head nodder Area 54, and maybe Flying Waterbed -would have stood a chance of making it onto the group’s first album.

In 1996, New York rapper Kool Keith released his debut solo album Dr. Octagonecologyst under the moniker of Dr. Octagon. With production by Dan the Automator and turntable work by DJ Qbert, the album is considered a classic of underground hip hop. After coming to resent its popularity over his other projects and falling out with Dan the Automator, Kool Keith adopted yet another persona, Dr. Dooom, and released the album First Come, First Served which opens with a skit of Dr. Octagon being murdered. Now, in 2018, Kool Keith and Dan the Automator seem to have reconciled and reunited with DJ Qbert to make this third Dr. Octagon Album, Moosebumps.

Moosebumps: an exploration into modern day horripilation. Moosebumps: An Exploration Into Modern Day Horripilation is the incredible follow up album to the classic, critically acclaimed 1996 Dr. Octagon release Dr. Octagonecologyst, the inspired musical collaboration of legendary artists/producers Dan 'The Automator', MC Kool Keith & turntablist DJ Q-Bert. For the first time in 22 years Moosebumps reunites the dream team in studio & on stage!

The original Dr. Octagon album from 1996 (which was re-released a year later as Dr. Octagonecologyst) was a wholly unexpected success - it felt like an absurdist experiment, with Keith pursuing preposterous (and often prurient) prose over a mad scientist selection of Automator beats as likely to crib from Bartok and Pachelbel as it was Young Holt Unlimited and Rufus Thomas. Over the years, Keith reused the Dr. Octagon moniker on several releases, but the new Moosebumps: An Exploration Into Modern Day Horripilation is the first Dr. Octagon project to reunite him with Dan since their original outing. By any measure, 22 years is a long time to wait between albums, yet Keith and Dan pick up right where they left off, weird and warped as ever. It's not impolite to describe Dr. Octagon, then and now, as an acquired taste. Created by. Keith Thornton. Once again performing as Dr. Octagon, Kool Keith reunited with Dan The Automator and DJ Qbert to release Moosebumps: An Exploration Into Modern Day Horripilation on Bulk Recordings. The album was released on streaming services on April 6, 2018, with the physical release scheduled for Record Store Day, April 21, 2018. The Record Store Day release includes both vinyl and CD copies

Listen To Dr. Octagon's "Moosebumps: An Exploration Into Modern Day Horripilation" no. Moosebumps is Keith’s third Dr. Octagon album and his 15th solo studio LP overall. Dan The Automator and DJ Q-Bert are back involved too, reuniting the team behind the 1996 classic Dr. Octagonecologyst. Check out the Moosebumps stream, cover art & tracklist below. For fans of Dr. Octagon, another album seemed like a long lost fantasy. Octagon has done it again. delivering an impeccable, fantastic as all hell album from beginning to end. Kool Keith, Dan the Automator & DJDr. Kool Keith, Dan the Automator & DJ Q-Bert is the perfect combination.

Dr Octagon returns to the scene of the crime after so many years that his one and only concern, or is it hope, consists on reconstructing the same crime, using a forgetful mind and a damaged memory. 70. Moosebumps easily exceeds the expectations for a new Dr. Octagon project. This group has nothing to prove at this point: they have a wholly unique, completely untouchable weirdo-rap classic under their belt. However, this new release is a ton of fun to listen to.
