Nu is the 5th record from Signs of the Silhouette, lead by incredible guitar player Jorge Nuno, the remarkable drummer Joao Paulo Entrezede, and the visual artist Miguel Opes. Inspired by the book Dune from Frank Herbert, the Portuguese duo invited the amazing Double Bass player Hernani Faustino and the pianist Rodrigo Pinheiro for a long jam session at Namouche, that later on turned into this super limited record of just 100 copies. Improvisation is still the main ingredient used by the band to create their new opus

Silhouette often reminds me of other Dutch progrock bands Mangrove and Knight Area, this is also very pleasant music that will please the symphomaniacs and neo-progheads. Across The Rubicon was my first exposure to Silhouette, and I found them a skilled band. The album itself was excellent and I'd recommend it without reservations to anyone who enjoys neo prog, or good music for that matter. While I enjoyed the first half of the album more than the second half it was not without it's excellent moments. I absolutely loved the first four tracks. Breathe and When The Snow's Falling Down were particularly striking.

Even though Silhouette only has 6 tracks, it's not short of style or substance by any measure. Through You demonstrates an uncanny ability to bring old and new school together to produce a unique sound. One of the most obvious influences I heard on this CD was Rage Against The Machine. without the gonzo-political overtones and with much more melody. They're about groove and energy. Silhouette takes all the best elements of a good song and multiplies them by six. From the driving, in-your-face rocker, "Harbor" and the bluesy, neo-STP vibe of "Opposite Gravity" to the almost psychedelic "Orchid," this whole CD takes you on a wild ride from which you won't want to return.
