Omnium Gatherum, alongside Dark Tranquility and Insomnium, has been known to many metalgoers as one of the greatest monuments of melodic death metal, and for a good reason. Established in 1996 from Karhula, Finland, this sextet has unleashed a plentiful sleuth of some of the most powerful and breathtaking melodic metal ever to hit the eardrums of listeners, and, as a result, has also obtained quite a large following. It truly set the bar incredibly high for what was to arrive next later on. This is where Omnium Gatherum’s sixth full-length album Beyond, released early in 2013. In this record, the musicianship is as wonderful as ever.

Beyond is the sixth full-length studio album of Finnish melodic death metal band Omnium Gatherum and their second record released on Lifeforce Records. The album was released digitally worldwide on February 22, 2013, and physical CD was released in Finland, Germany, Switzerland and Australia on February 22, in the rest of Europe on February 25, and in North America on March 5. the album was produced by Teemu Aalto and Sami Koivisto and recorded at Teemu Aalto Music Productions studio (except for drums, which was recorded.

Omnium Gatherum definitely stick close to the up beat and singing character typified in said bands, offering up a sound that is quite easy to grab onto, but also not lacking in any level of depth or intrigue, though they don't quite come off as virtuosic and showy as their better known, early day rivals. Though not the most riveting of this band's fairly prolific output, "Beyond" definitely nails down the 3 necessary elements to truly bring home the goods, namely atmosphere, aggression and clarity  . Though its cover might have traded the city skyline for a coastline, the latest Omnium Gatherum album Beyond is very much in the vein of its predecessor, New World Shadows.
