Musicology Live 2004ever. Musicology is the 28th full-length studio album by Prince, and his first release on a major label since 1999's Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic. The album was released initially on CD in a basic slipcase, and was given to every audience member of every show on the Musicology Live 2004ever tour (and at each movie theater which simulcast the tour's second show). Prince toured North America extensively with the Musicology Live 2004ever tour, beginning shortly before the album's commercial release, but as the tour ticket included a CD copy of the album (given to attendees as they entered the venue), the tour should not be considered promotion for the album.

The worst part is that Musicology is probably the best Prince album since at least the "symbol" album from 1992, and possibly since Sign O' the Times. But that's misleading, since this album isn't close to Sign 's league- it's also depressing to think he hasn't made a great record in over 15 years. But don't take my word for it; look out the window, see if any of your friends are jamming to this. Failing that, chart your own experience in your own headphones.

again, yet another classic and crucial 12" goes unreviewed! every single track of this ep is amazing; 'fear of expression', 'telefone 529' and 'obsessed' are all tracks of the 'tribal bass' variety, the records that always stood out in grooverider and colin dale sets in '91, ironically for a classic slice of IDM and detroit, 'obssesed' is one of my favourite ever hardcore records. the mixture of rolling breaks, sci-fi synths and 50 fathom deep bass defines an era and was certainly influential on the soon to emerge early jungle sound. 'metropolis' kind of follows the early detroit blueprint and soars with the purest of detroit strings. doesnt so much remind me that 1991 Britain was a very different time but makes me think it was a different planet! only glad i was there for it....
