Tina Charles (born 10 March 1954) is an English singer who achieved success as a disco artist in the mid to late 1970s. Her most successful single was the no. 1 hit "I Love to Love (But My Baby Loves to Dance)" in 1976. Born Tina Hoskins in Whitechapel, London, to Charles Hoskins, who worked in a box-making factory in Bow and his wife Hilda, she recovered from meningitis as a newborn. She has a brother, Warren, who was her tour manager for a time during the height of her career.

The ten tracks that comprise 1977's Tina Sings were, in fact, recorded in 1972 as Charles worked as a member of the group Wild Honey, and thus not only predate her hitmaking years under the aegis of producer Biddu, they also bear little resemblance to anything she would go on to create. Indeed, only four of the songs here were even released at the time - "He's My Sugar," "People of the Universe," "Baby Don't You Know Anymore," and "Joe" all appeared on readily forgotten singles during 1972-1973

Charles began her career as a backing vocalist and session artist, and recorded her first solo single in 1969 with a then-unknown Elton John singing backing vocals. In 1971 she made a record called "Joe" (about a little puppy).
