Following up Blood Sugar Sex Magik proved to be a difficult task for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In 1993, two years after Blood Sugar, former Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro joined up, but it was still another two years before One Hot Minute appeared, due to various personal problems. Navarro's metallic guitar shredding should have added some weight to the Chili Peppers' punk-inflected heavy-guitar funk, but tends to make it plodding

But there were a few hurdles in the way before the group would release their next album. The biggest of these hurdles came when guitarist John Frusciante, who had become a major creative force in the band, decided to step away in 1992. While there was plenty of anticipation for new music after Blood Sugar Sex Magik and the addition of Navarro to the lineup, the One Hot Minute album and tour cycle turned out to be one of the more underwhelming periods in the band's history. The album was certified gold in November 1995 and eventually reached double platinum status, but sold less than half as many copies as its predecessor.

All this from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the sloppy punk-funk troupe that rose to fame wearing tube socks on its dicks. One Hot Minute dives into the emotionally deep end of drug addiction and loss, themes the Chili Peppers first touched on in their biggest hit to date, Under the Bridge, from their 1991 megaplatinum wonder, BloodSugarSexMagik.

One Hot Minute: And we come to the title track which painted with Guitar FX giving a dark and dense feeling. Not really an obvious title track to be honest it shows clearly that this band has changed from BSSM this is something they wouldn't of dreamt of writing with John. One of the most heavy tracks on the album but it gives Chad a chance to smash the into his drums at least, and some experimenting to be done especially with endings. Even if this track is not something to be associated with the Chili Peppers it's one I'm quite fond of. 4/5. Falling into Grace: Mid.
