Euphoria is a series of dance music compilations that debuted on the Telstar Records label in early 1999. During the first year, Euphoria focused primarily on Trance music until mid-2000 when Euphoria release the first Chill-out album in the series and the first Hard House album in late 2000. Euphoria was later spun off into a number of associated club nights around the UK, Ibiza and Cyprus. This was a new direction for the Euphoria brand in that the album contained the latest dance music including the recent fusion of dance beats with R&B. Telstar also launched the Breakdown (its full name being The Very Best of Euphoric Dance Breakdown) series in 1999, the same year as the inaugural Euphoria album, and this brand also went to Ministry of Sound following the folding of Telstar ' Euphoria - Level 3. This may be an unpopular opinion, but A Higher State Of... Euphoria is the best of the series in my opinion. It had high amounts of energy, trance that succeeds in every way capable, and a larger quantity of awesome tunes from 1999.The first CD is just 'perfect' for me, as everything and every song is just stunning. It starts off with an awesome hit by Faithless - Drifting Away and the mix into Mansun's Wide Open Space is just phenomenal in every aspect. The third track - Space Manoeuvres's Stage One is just incredible and makes me remember '99 as being the greatest year of trance. We also have the likes of Paul Van Dyke's Avenue, Airscape's L'Esperanza, Mario Più's Communication (Yomanda Remix), A.T.F.C* Presents OnePhatDeeva's In And Out Of My Life, DJ Sakin's Nomansland (one of my favourite tunes ever made), Gee Motion Feat. Beccie Rayne's Blue Angel, G.D's Choral Reef, Chakra's Love Shines Through, Bedrock's Heaven Scent and then the last two hits which mix so well together that you couldn't possibly think anything to beat it. DSP (5)'s From Russia With Love and Leftfield's Open Up which end it stunningly. This CD is amazing in every aspect of trance music.The second CD is also fantastic in every sense, and possibly better than the first. The first six tracks are among the best I've listened to - like Fluke's Absurd, Balearic Bill's Destination Sunshine, CRW, Mauro Picotto's Lizard , I Feel Love (DJ Jam X & De Leon Remix), Solange's Message, Tilt's I Dream, Binary Finary's 1999 (Gouryella Remix), Chicane's Lost You Somewhere, Ayla's Ayla, Atlantis's Fiji (Cequenza Remix) and Tillman* & Ries's Bassfly. I can't really describe why it deserves to have a place on your shelf, you just need to listen to it. It is a fantastic deal, and beats the horribly mixed music of today which I don't bother with.Grab a copy if you dare, it is a roller-coaster ride of nostalgia and awesomeness.
