Earnest Earthy Exuberant Passionate Rollicking. Hanging Out Late Night Partying TGIF. I'll Just Keep on Singin' the Blues was recorded in 1961 in Chicago just before pianist Memphis Slim was to embark on a European tour and take up permanent residence there. Backed by members of his exciting '50s band the House Rockers (including Matt "Guitar" Murphy), it's a lost masterpiece. Slim and his band are in great form on this set of originals that ooze gutbucket postwar Chicago blues.

I'll Just Keep on Singing the Blues. This song is by Memphis Slim and appears on the album The World's Foremost Blues Singer (1961). Look in the corner, and hand me down my walking shoesI'm just a lonesome traveller, Lord I just keep on singing the blues

Memphis Slim (3 September, 1915 in Memphis, Tennessee – 24 February, 1988 in Paris, France) was a blues pianist and singer. His birth name was John Len Chatman although he himself claimed to be born Peter Chatman (the name he gave himself in honour of his father Peter Chatman Sr. when he first recorded for Okeh in 1940). He composed the blues standards "Every Day I Have the Blues" and "Mother Earth". Memphis Slim got his start playing the blues at the Midway Café, at 357 Beale Street (southeast corner of Fourth and Beale Streets) in Memphis in 1931. FPX 243.
