The Speckless Sky is an album by Jane Siberry. It was Siberry's highest-charting album on the Canadian charts and contains her biggest Top 40 hit, "One More Colour". The album's second single, "Map of the World (Part II)", was also a hit on Canada's adult contemporary charts.
It was not until an interview by Kimberly Haas on a local syndicated radio show introduced me to Jane's music. These digital downloads are to restore my now expired and overplayed audio cassettes.

Elsewhere on The Speckless Sky, Siberry refines the complex, arty soundscape work started on the previous album ("Vladimir Vladimir"), indulges in more surreal pop ("Map of the World (Part II)"), and tosses in an achingly beautiful straightforward song of love and loss ("The Taxi Ride"). Siberry's lyrics are often unencumbered by reality (think Laurie Anderson on hallucinogens), but the top-notch musicianship on the album helps Siberry keep at least one foot on the ground.

Then all of a sudden, we get into a new age feeling, that was night time (the rest of the song). The theme was 1985 more than empty cities. Whether they all are from that year is unknown to me. But 1985, of course, was the year of the song off the Speckless Sky album and if I were a video director, this would have been the theme I would have pitched to Jane for this song.
